Thomas W. Clawson

Thomas W. Clawson is a member of VanCott's Natural Resources Practice Group and a member of the firm’s Business Section, focusing his practice on natural resources and public land law. He assists clients in acquiring, selling, transferring, securing, protecting, and maintaining oil and gas properties and other matters involving oil and gas exploration and development issues; taxation, and royalty disputes; and pooling and unitization questions on federal, state, and private lands. He represents oil and gas, and mining clients in federal and state court, before the Utah Board of Oil, Gas and Mining, and before the United States Department of the Interior Board of Land Appeals. He also conducts environmental due diligence investigations involving the acquisition and merger of oil and gas companies, including the preparation of mineral title opinions. Prior to attending law school, he was an exploration geophysicist for five years in Colorado and Texas.  Mr. Clawson is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® in the areas of natural resources law and oil and gas law, and he was selected by his peers and recognized in Utah Business Magazine as one of the 2007 and 2008 Utah Legal Elite in the areas of Energy/Natural Resources law.
