Summer Associate Program

The summer associate program at VanCott is the primary source of our new attorney hiring. As the Firm grows, we expect to continue to hire outstanding attorneys to serve our clients. Our objective is to hire only those students who have the potential to become shareholders of the firm.

While the firm has a limited opportunity for first-year students, VanCott hires primarily students who have completed their second year of law school. The firm does not have any set criteria or grade point cutoffs when screening candidates. We typically look for students with outstanding academic records, strong interpersonal skills, good writing ability, and the maturity expected of future shareholders of the firm. We also consider participation on law journals, Moot Court, and other co-curricular or extracurricular activities. Our intent is to hire only as many students as we anticipate will be needed as new associates the following year.

The firm conducts on-campus recruiting for second-year students in September and October. If we are not scheduled to interview at your law school, please submit a cover letter, resume, and transcript for consideration.

Second-year students should apply as early in the school year as possible. First-year students are encouraged to apply as soon as they have received their first semester grades.
