VanCott Expands Intellectual Property Services

February 14, 2006…The law firm of Van Cott, Bagley, Cornwall & McCarthy is pleased to announce that James R. Farmer has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property practice. “While Jim’s legal experience as a patent attorney is significant, his technical experience is what sets him apart,” notes Stephen Swindle, Managing Partner.

 

Prior to practicing law, Mr. Farmer specialized in the areas of computational aerodynamics and hydrodynamics and worked as a research scientist at Princeton University, Brigham Young University and Intelligent Aerodynamics, Inc of Princeton, New Jersey. He also collaborated with scientists from both private and government research laboratories, including NASA Ames Research Center and the David Taylor Model Basin. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University and his J.D. from the University of Utah College of Law. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

As a member of Van Cott’s Intellectual Property Group, Mr. Farmer will continue to focus on assisting clients with patent litigation and prosecution, opinion preparation and license agreements, specializing in the fields of mechanical and electrical inventions and computer software.
