John Ashton Joins Van Cott
The law firm of Van Cott, Bagley, Cornwall & McCarthy is pleased to announce that John P. Ashton has joined the firm as a shareholder. For the past thirty two years, Mr. Ashton has assisted clients with civil, federal, and intellectual property litigation matters while working for the law firm of Prince, Yeates & Geldzahler. Most recently, Mr. Ashton acted as lead counsel in a class action against a major financial services company which resulted in a jury verdict and judgment in favor of the class in the amount of over $15 million.
Mr. Ashton received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University in 1967, and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah in 1971. He is a member of the Utah State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, the American Bar Association, the Utah State Judicial Council, an Emeritus member of the Sutherland Inns of Court, and a newly elected Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
