Environmental Law
Since congress passed the first environmental protection laws in the late 1960s, we have represented our clients in all facets of environmental law and regulation at the federal, state and local level. Our clients include mining, oil and gas and railroad companies as well as airlines, hospitals, chemical manufacturers, commercial solid and hazardous waste companies, recyclers, electrical supply companies, ski resorts, contractors, developers and lenders.
Permitting and Compliance
To avoid and minimize environmental liability, we assist clients in environmental permitting and compliance under federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations. We also offer advice on regulatory issues such as air and water quality, wetlands, drinking water, solid and hazardous waste management, underground storage tanks, PCBs and other toxic substances, hazardous materials transportation, spill reporting requirements, state and federal Superfund laws, community right-to-know, environmental audits, NEPA, wilderness and endangered species.
Environmental Issues in Transactions
Our environmental attorneys work closely with the firm's real estate, natural resources and corporate attorneys advising clients on environmental risks and liability in acquisitions, mergers and real estate transactions.
Governmental Affairs
We assist clients in governmental regulatory and legislative arenas, monitoring and analyzing new legislative and regulatory developments and participating in the development, drafting and negotiation of environmental legislation and regulatory programs.

The firm represents clients in environmental enforcement actions under federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations. We also defend clients in judicial prosecutions under state and federal environmental laws and in administrative enforcement proceedings. Environmental Cost Recovery Litigation
Our attorneys are actively involved in litigation involving recovery of costs for environmental cleanup of contaminated sites and spills, including cost recovery litigation for cleanup of contaminated sites under Superfund (CERCLA), leaking underground storage tanks, spills under the Clean Water Act and litigation against insurance companies for recovery of such costs.
